2015 Family Art Night Recap

With a portion of the proceeds from our 7th Annual Wine Tasting & Art Gala, Artists For Harmony spent a night with a wonderful community of families in the name of art.  Painting, crafts, pizza, and even the infamous AFH Karaoke machine made this the perfect evening. Stay tuned for some big plans in 2015.

Meals From The Heart 3.0

This is Artists For Harmony’s third trip in as many years to the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago as part of the Meals From The Heart program. Our delicious lunch menu, prepared by volunteer coordinator Jason Thorn, was a smash hit! It was another terrific afternoon, and a huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers who made it possible!

ICRE Outreach Day Recap

It was a beautiful Saturday, and we could not be more grateful for all the volunteers who supported our efforts to help beautify the Illinois Center For Rehabilitation and Education-Roosevelt during the second AFH Outreach Day this year.  The hand-built flower boxes, custom painted birdhouses and flower pots, solar lights, and planted flowers have added a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Chicago for the ICRE students. The mural was also a huge success. Generous volunteers, including several wonderful students from Hancock College Prep. High School, made AFH president Michael Trulis’ design come to life. The mural, which was titled after Rosa Parks’ mugshot number, portrays various other inspirational African American figures including Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Gwendolyn Brooks, President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Derrick Rose, and Buddy Guy. Click below and watch the two day project unfold in two minutes. Stay tuned for our next AFH Outreach Day!

Meals From The Heart Recap

This is Artists For Harmony’s second trip in as many years to the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago as part of the Meals From The Heart program, but our first to the new state of the art facility. Our April Fools-themed menu, prepared by volunteer coordinator Jason Thorn, included meatloaf and mash potato “cupcakes” as well as angel food cake and frosting disguised as grilled cheese sandwiches for dessert. After dinner, the families enjoyed a few more tricks performed by Jeremy Pitt-Payne: “The Magician from Britain”.  It was a terrific evening, and a huge thank you to all the volunteers who made it possible!   Click here for more pictures
