ICRE Outreach Day: Saturday May 18th

Artists For Harmony is making a special Saturday visit to the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education – Roosevelt (ICRE-R) on Saturday May 18th at 11am as part of our AFH Outreach Program. ICRE-R is a state funded facility where young people dealing with physical and/or mental disabilities both live in and are taught classes. ICRE-R lacks the funding to improve their facilities so that is where AFH Outreach comes in.

We will be working on two different projects.

1. Mural – AFH President Michael Trulis has designed a mural which will be sketched out on a hallway inside the ICRE facility. Volunteers will help turn the charcoal outline into a work of art. No painting experience is necessary, but some coloring book experience is recommended.

2. Backyard Improvements – We will be building planter boxes, planting flowers and trees and doing general cleanup in their backyard area. No prior knowledge of building or gardening is necessary. Knowing what a hammer is might help.
